In preparation for the warm weather in Arizona, it’s a good idea to clean the AC unit. This includes clearing away any debris that can fall on it and cleaning the outside components. You should also clear away any shrubbery and keep it at least two feet away from the unit. And don’t forget to clean the dryer vent, too! Your dryer vent should not be pointing toward your AC unit. Once the spring cleaning is finished, you can turn your AC back on and enjoy the cool air.

Once the unit has been cleaned and the coils are clean, the next step is to inspect the unit’s air ducts. If your AC unit has dirty ducts, they’ll have a difficult time recycling air and may fail. By having your ducts cleaned, you can improve the quality of the air in your home, which will make you feel better and reduce the incidence of spring allergies.

If your outdoor AC is located outside of your home, clean off the debris that has accumulated on it over the winter. If you see a rat or a squirrel in your area, call a wildlife helper to relocate them. If you have an indoor unit, check the lines for insulation and clean them thoroughly. If you find a leak, call an HVAC service to fix it and ensure that the AC is working properly again.
